01 Scope of services
Westgate Financial Services is a Texas-based bookkeeping firm. We do bookkeeping, monthly reconciliations, cleanup, catch-up, and QuickBooks management. We are not a CPA firm, not a tax preparer, not a law firm, not an investment adviser, and not Intuit. When a client question falls outside bookkeeping, we say so and point you to the right professional.
This Disclaimer describes the scope of services offered by Westgate Financial Services ("Westgate FS"), and the boundaries of those services. It applies to information on this website and to all bookkeeping, accounting, and QuickBooks management engagements with Westgate FS unless your engagement letter expressly says otherwise.
Reading this page or contacting us does not create a professional, fiduciary, or attorney-client relationship. Our professional relationship begins only after both parties sign a written engagement letter.
02 We are not a CPA firm. We do not give tax advice.
Westgate FS is a bookkeeping firm. We are not certified public accountants and we do not hold ourselves out as a CPA firm licensed to practice public accountancy under the rules of the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy or any other state board.
Specifically, Westgate FS does not:
- Prepare or sign federal, state, or local tax returns of any kind.
- Represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service, the Texas Comptroller, or any other taxing authority.
- Issue audited, reviewed, or compiled financial statements under AICPA professional standards.
- Provide tax advice, tax planning, or tax opinions on transactions, structures, deductions, credits, classifications, or filings.
- Advise on tax positions taken on returns we did not prepare.
What we do at tax time is deliver clean, reconciled books to your CPA — the books your CPA needs to file your return accurately. If you do not yet have a CPA, we maintain a short list of Texas firms we coordinate with comfortably and we will recommend a few based on your industry and complexity.
For any decision that depends on a tax position — entity structure, distributions, year-end accruals, owner compensation, asset disposals, multi-state nexus — consult a licensed CPA or tax attorney for advice on your specific facts. We will gladly coordinate with whichever professional you choose.
03 We do not give legal advice.
Westgate FS is not a law firm and our operators are not licensed attorneys. Nothing on this website, in our blog or resource pages, or in any communication with our operators constitutes legal advice.
Topics where you should consult an attorney rather than us include entity formation and conversion, contract drafting and negotiation, employment classification, intellectual property, dispute resolution, litigation, and the legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, or business sales.
04 We are not Intuit. We do not provide QuickBooks software support.
QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop are products of Intuit Inc. Westgate FS is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Intuit. We use QuickBooks every day as a bookkeeping platform on behalf of our clients, often under an Accountant invitation, but we do not provide tier-1 software support.
Westgate FS does not:
- Resolve QuickBooks login, licensing, or subscription issues.
- Repair sync failures, bank-feed outages, or platform errors caused by Intuit infrastructure.
- Recover deleted company files, payroll runs, or merchant batches at the platform level.
- Provide installation, migration, or system-administration support for QuickBooks Desktop environments.
For platform-level problems, the right first call is Intuit support. Once the platform is working again, we are the right call to manage the bookkeeping inside it.
05 We do not provide financial, investment, or insurance advice.
Westgate FS is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, insurance agent, or financial planner. Nothing on this site or in our communications is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security, insurance product, or financial instrument. For advice on investments, retirement planning, business valuation, or insurance coverage, consult a properly licensed professional.
06 Third-party tools, platforms, and links.
Our website may link to or reference third-party tools, platforms, and content — including QuickBooks, scheduling tools, payroll providers, and online resources. We provide those references for convenience and clarity, not as endorsements. Westgate FS is not responsible for the accuracy, content, security, or availability of third-party services, and your use of them is governed by those providers' own terms and privacy policies.
07 Estimates, projections & forward-looking statements.
When we discuss timelines, pricing ranges, or expected outcomes — for example, "your cleanup will take about three weeks" or "fixed monthly retainers in this range" — those are good-faith estimates based on typical engagements. They are not guarantees. Actual results depend on the condition of your records, the timeliness of your responses, and the cooperation of third parties (banks, payroll providers, prior bookkeepers, software platforms). Specific timelines and prices for your engagement are confirmed in writing in your engagement letter.
08 Information accuracy.
We make a real effort to keep the information on this website current, accurate, and useful. We do not, however, warrant that it is complete, error-free, or appropriate for your specific situation. Tax rules, accounting standards, software features, and our own service offerings change. If something on the site looks out of date or wrong, please write to privacy@westgatefs.com and we will fix it.
09 Operator representations.
References to "operators," "experience," and "Texas-based" describe our team and the way we work. We do not subcontract bookkeeping engagements offshore, and the operator who handles your engagement is a real person based in the United States. Where we describe years of combined experience, those figures represent total operational accounting experience across the operator team, not the tenure of any single individual.
Where we describe credentials (for example, QuickBooks ProAdvisor pages on this site), those pages are published only when at least one of our operators holds the relevant credential at the time of publication. We update these pages when credentials change.
