Built for everyone to read.

Accessibility is part of how we judge our own work. This page describes the standards we build to, the technologies we test against, the limits we know about, and how to tell us when something doesn't work — so we can fix it.

01 Our commitment

In plain English

We design this website to be usable with a keyboard, a screen reader, voice control, magnification, and reduced motion. If you hit a barrier, write to us and we'll fix it — usually within ten business days.

Westgate Financial Services is committed to making this website accessible to people of all abilities. We treat accessibility as a continuous practice rather than a one-time checklist — we test against widely used assistive technologies, ship corrections as we find issues, and welcome reports from anyone who runs into a barrier on this site.

02 Conformance status

This site is designed to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 AA is the international reference standard for digital accessibility and is the level used to satisfy obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act, and similar regulations.

Our current self-assessed status is partial conformance: the site largely meets WCAG 2.1 AA, with specific known limitations described in Section 6. We track every reported barrier as an action item and revise this statement when material changes ship.

03 Measures we take

Accessibility is built into how we build, not bolted on after. Specifically, we:

  • Use semantic HTML5 landmarks (header, nav, main, section, footer) so screen readers and structural navigation work out of the box.
  • Maintain a logical heading hierarchy on every page; users can navigate the document outline by heading level.
  • Provide visible focus indicators on every interactive element — never outline: none without a stronger replacement.
  • Pair colour contrast with shape, weight, and text — never colour alone.
  • Use accessible names on all form controls, buttons, and icon-only links.
  • Honour prefers-reduced-motion in CSS so animations subside for visitors who request it.
  • Provide a Skip to content link as the first interactive element on every page.
  • Avoid carousels, auto-playing media, and time-limited interactions that block reading.
  • Treat accessibility regressions as production bugs.

04 Technical specifications

This website depends on the following technologies. Modern, up-to-date browsers and assistive technologies that support these technologies will deliver the best experience:

  • HTML5
  • WAI-ARIA where standard HTML semantics are insufficient
  • CSS3 (including custom properties, grid, flexbox)
  • JavaScript (used progressively — core content is readable without it)
  • SVG for icons and illustrations

05 Assistive technologies tested

PlatformBrowserAssistive technology
macOSSafari, ChromeVoiceOver, full keyboard navigation
WindowsEdge, Chrome, FirefoxNVDA, Narrator, full keyboard navigation
iOSSafariVoiceOver, dynamic type
AndroidChromeTalkBack, screen magnification

We also verify keyboard-only navigation, contrast ratios with automated tooling, and reduced-motion behaviour as a routine part of release testing.

06 Known limitations & alternatives

Despite our best efforts, some areas of the site may have limited accessibility. Known limitations include:

Third-party scheduling widget
Our scheduling provider's embedded widget on the /book-a-call/ page is owned by a third party. We have raised accessibility issues with the provider, and we offer an alternative: email privacy@westgatefs.com or fill in the contact form and we will schedule a call by hand.
Embedded financial reports (for active clients)
Reports exported from QuickBooks may include tables that are not fully marked up for screen readers. For any report we deliver to you, ask for a structured copy and we will provide an HTML or accessible-PDF version.
User-submitted content in future blog comments
Where comments are enabled in the future, the content of those comments is outside our editorial control.

If you encounter a barrier that is not listed here, please report it under Section 7 and we will treat it as a priority issue.

07 Feedback & reporting

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of this website. To report a barrier, request information in an accessible alternative format, or suggest improvements, please contact us using any of the following methods:

Email
privacy@westgatefs.com with the subject "Accessibility"
Contact form
/contact/
Postal mail
Westgate Financial Services, attention: Accessibility · Texas, United States

We aim to acknowledge your message within two business days and to respond substantively within ten business days. Where a fix takes longer, we will tell you why and give a realistic timeline.

08 Formal complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility concern, you may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice under Title III of the ADA via the ADA complaint portal, or with the relevant state authority. We will cooperate fully with any such inquiry.

09 Assessment approach

We use a combination of self-assessment and external review:

  • Self-assessment. Each release is checked against WCAG 2.1 AA criteria using a combination of manual review and automated tooling (axe DevTools, Lighthouse, Wave).
  • External evaluation. We engage independent accessibility reviewers for periodic audits of the production site; the most recent audit date is reflected in the "Last updated" field above when the audit influences this statement.
